Knitting Group
Temple Beth Elohim offers so many opportunities for involvement: study, spiritual commitment and community enhancement. These varied and wonderful options encourage us to consciously choose the ways in which we will give of ourselves. Unbeknownst to many congregants, TBE has a branch of the Caring Community that brings hope and healing through creativity. We are knitters – women (men are invited too) who join monthly to create “healing shawls.” These beautifully crafted shawls vary in color and texture, the subtle signatures of individual knitters. Every stitch, however, carries the same message: Our congregation cares deeply about you. Whenever a shawl is given to someone in need of physical or spiritual healing, an accompanying card states, “It is our hope that as you wrap this shawl around you, you will feel the warmth and love of our spiritual community – enveloping you with prayers for good health and peaceful well-being.”
While knitting, we are conscious of our purpose. We may not know recipients, but we do know our “work” has significance. If you are interested in creative contribution of this kind, please consider joining us. We meet in different homes on the third Sunday of every month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There are no deadlines – simply conversation, community, and yes, great joy. We hope to see you soon.
